Abu Hurairah may Allah be pleased with him narrated that Allah's Messenger (PBUH) said:
"If anyone of you leads the people in the Salat (prayer), he should shorten it, for amongst them are the weak, the sick and the old; and if anyone among you offer prayers alone then he may prolong (the prayer) as much as he wishes."
[Sahih Al-Bukhari, the Book of Call to Prayer, Ch.62, Hadeeth No.703]
It is important for those of us who are given the opportunity to lead others in Salat to know the people they lead. We must not in the words of the Prophet PBUH ''...make people dislike good deeds (prayer)'' by prolonging prayer unnecessarily. We must be mindful of the people we lead; the weak, the sick, the old and people in the state that requires urgent relief.
Remember to make it a habit to learn one new thing about your Deen every day. And Allah knows best.
It is severely disliked to go to the Masjid with an abhorrent smell on oneself like cigarette smell. People & angels are disturbed.
But It is encouraged & praiseworthy to go to the Masjid with perfume or fragrance on for men.
