Religious organisation the ChristianView Network has condemned Kwazulu-Natal guest lodge owner Andre Slade for misusing the Bible to defend racist remarks.
The organisation said Slade's referral to Bible scripture Proverbs 29:2 to defend why his establishment‚ Sodwana Bay Guest Lodge‚ will not be catering for black people and government empoyees any longer is a misuse of the Bible.
"Slade made claims on radio that the Bible justifies his racism‚ although he quoted no scripture. His book indicates he is not a Christian‚" The organisation said in a statement on Friday.
Slade was lambasted on social media with calls from political parties and individuals to shut down his establishment after he sent an email to a patron saying his establishment does no accommodate black people or government employees any longer.
The lodge owner defended his racist remarks using Bible verses and said the Bible advocated segregation of black and white people‚ but the organisation slammed this saying Slade's referrals were a contradiction.
''...’We do not have the same blood’.. is directly contradicted by Acts 17:25-25 which says ‘and hath made of one blood all nations of men’‚" the organisation said.
